AREAS OF INTEREST
Young people with disabilities are among the poorest and most marginalised of the world’s youth. Estimates suggest that there are between 180 and 220 million youth with disabilities worldwide, and nearly 80 percent of them live in developing countries - Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA).
Star Children Development Initiative as a children and youth led organisation priorities' the needs of children and young people with disabilities by strategically and collaborate fully equip them with necessary skills that would give them comparative advantages like their able counterpart on issues that affect young people, such as: access to education, employment, health care and social services. Inclusion matters, that is why SCDI believes in their ability and capacity inspite of negative attitude of society, discrimination and inadequate accessible environment physically and virtually. SCDI often organises the following programme to empowered them such as: digital skills, entrepreneurial skills, Leadership skills, Mentorship, inclusive strategy training, grant for micro and small businesses, capacity building on self-development so that they can be active citizen that would be participating in political and socioeconomic Deveolpment of their community, nation and the world at large.
